Subscription & Payment Policy

This policy outlines the subscription plans, payment terms, and billing practices for Publish Owl. By subscribing to a paid plan, you agree to these terms.

Subscription Plans

Publish Owl offers the following plans:

Plan features and pricing are subject to change. Current subscribers will be notified of any changes that affect their subscription.

Important: BYOK Model

Publish Owl uses a "Bring Your Own Keys" (BYOK) model. This means:

• Your subscription covers access to the Publish Owl platform only
• AI provider costs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc.) are NOT included
• You must provide and pay for your own API keys from these providers
• All AI features use your API keys, including content generation and the Owlbert AI assistant
• Image generation, web scraping, and other third-party services have separate costs

We strongly recommend setting spending limits on your AI provider accounts and starting with test content to understand your usage patterns and costs.

Payment Processing

All payments are processed securely through Polar, our payment provider.

• We accept major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express)
• All prices are in US Dollars (USD)
• Payments are processed immediately upon subscription
• Receipts are sent to your registered email address

We do not store your payment card details. All payment information is handled securely by Polar in accordance with PCI DSS standards.

Billing Cycle

Monthly subscriptions:

• Billed on the same date each month (e.g., if you subscribe on the 15th, you'll be billed on the 15th each month)
• If the billing date doesn't exist in a month (e.g., 31st in a 30-day month), you'll be billed on the last day

Annual subscriptions:

• Billed once per year on your subscription anniversary
• Full year payment is due at the start of each billing period

Lifetime subscriptions:

• One-time payment, no recurring charges
• Access to all features for the lifetime of the product

Automatic Renewal

Monthly and annual subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings.

• You will receive a reminder email before renewal
• Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period
• You retain access to paid features until your subscription expires

Plan Changes

Upgrading:

• Upgrades take effect immediately
• You'll be charged a prorated amount for the remainder of your billing period
• Future billing will reflect the new plan rate

Downgrading:

• Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period
• You retain access to your current plan's features until then
• No prorated refunds for downgrades

Failed Payments

If a payment fails, we will:

• Notify you via email
• Retry the payment after a few days
• Provide a grace period to update your payment method
• Suspend access if payment cannot be collected after multiple attempts

To avoid service interruption, please ensure your payment method is up to date.

Refunds

Our refund policy is outlined in our Refund Policy. In summary, we offer a 14-day refund window for new subscriptions.

Taxes

Prices may be subject to applicable taxes based on your location. Any applicable taxes will be calculated and displayed at checkout.
